Phase two of the Balchik stone house is underway
With the roof complete, the team has moved on to the slowest part of the project — hand-repointing 340 m² of stone masonry.

The roof structure of the Balchik stone house was handed over at the end of July, two weeks ahead of the agreed date. That allowed us to begin phase two earlier than planned.
Phase two is repointing the façades. The cement joints laid in the 1980s are being raked out by hand and replaced with NHL 3.5 lime mortar. The pace is around 12 m² a week — work that does not tolerate rushing.
The first moisture readings on the ground floor show a drop of more than 60% compared with March. We expect the values to keep falling over the coming months as the wall dries out.
